The
Working World is a project divided into two stages: a preparation course, where
young people learn basic concepts of the habits and attitudes demanded by a
serious and organised working environment; and the insertion into the job market
itself, which is achieved through partnership contracts held between São Martinho
and several companies. At the first stage, adolescents receive orientation about
the working world, spirituality and human relations, besides an introduction
to philosophy. At the same time they are referred on to a training programme
supervised by professionals of São Martinho, who accompany and evaluate the
performance of each. When they are considered ready to work, they join the associated
companies, with their working rights assured by São Martinho.
