The development of São Martinho´s activities contributes to "the child and the adolescent enjoy of all inherent the basic rights to the person human being, without damage of the integral protection that this Law assure for them, for law or other ways, all the chances and easinesses, in order them to authorize the physical, mental, moral development, social spiritual, in conditions of freedom and dignity."

- To contribute to the formation of children and adolescents, aimed at their full development ;
- to attend to children and adolescents who living in the streets, giving priority to their returning to their families;
- to contribute to strengthening family ties;
- to act in legal and social defense of children and adolescents;
- to contribute to professional initiation of adolescents;
- to facilitate the placing of adolescents in the formal work market;
- to contribute to the preparation and implementation of public policies relating to childhood and adolescence;
- to promote the Statute for the Child and the Adolescent;
- to contribute to the formation of social educators.
