WORKING WORLD (MUNDO DO TRABALHO)

Always having in mind the social and personal progress, the project prepares the young people to enter the labour market and to take part in the process of family improvement, working to render their rights concrete, based on a socioeducational proposal. Thus, we stimulate the participants to continue their capacitation, achieving higher educational levels. The day-to-day experience of the formal job is an excellent opportunity to develop the young people’s potential, besides helping in the construction of critical thought and the exercise of citizenship.

The project is divided in two steps:

The first is a preparation course, when we develop several sociopedagogic workshops with teenagers, such as: Relationship Workshop, Human and Professional Promotion, Career Management, Basic Administrative Management and Introduction to Informatics. This is a period of gathering experience, reflection and collective construction of knowledge, in order to promote a synthesis between thinking, felling and acting.

After the course, the adolescents become trainees in the projects of the institution until they achieve the second step, when they actually enter the labour market. Using partnerships, the teenagers join covenant companies, with all their labour rights ensured by São Martinho. The development of the adolescents in each partnership is systematically checked by the team of professionals from Working World.

Several kinds of attendance were undertaken as an initiative of the teenagers, their families, the supervisor or under the team’s request, such as: individual and group attendance, courses and lectures to the adolescents, cultural events and activities, sports and leisure.

NOTE: Since the Law of Apprentice (Lei do Aprendiz) came into effect — law nº 10.097/2000, approved by the Municipal Board for the Children and Adolescent (Conselho Municipal da Criança e do Adolescente) (Resolution nº 394/03 – DS/CMDCA), published in the Official Journal (Diário Oficial) in Rio de Janeiro on April 25, 2003 — Working World has been adapting its policies to the new law.
