COMMUNITY CENTRE (NÚCLEO COMUNITÁRIO)

Besides sheltering children and adolescents that live in the streets, São Martinho also undertakes actions to prevent them from leaving their homes. Therefore, Vicente de Carvalho Community Centre has a very special goal: to offer this individuals the opportunity to have access to education, culture, luck and leisure, valuing autonomy, sociability and the construction of new personal perspectives.

Located close to Morro do Juramento, in Vicente de Carvalho, the Community Centre assists children and adolescents from the communities Juramento, Fé, Trem and Conjunto do IPASE.

To provide the young people with the tools to change the reality in which they live, the Centre offered handcraft workshops – sewing, arts, recycling, jewellery – activities that complement school, sports, cultural, and musical activities.

The children and teenagers are led to the community resources as a means to satisfy specific needs, such as: formal education, documentation, health, etc.
